Now that I am going to Africa for a year, the project for a new toilet building is already set.
The first small building dates from 2013 and was constructed with a pit underneath.
Once that fills up and needs to be emptied, it is a major expense, and we are very difficult to reach here in the mountains.
We have now installed three quite luxurious toilets with a toilet seat and flushable flushing, so they are connected to the water supply. They are also connected to the sewer system of the village of Adwaso. In addition, there are two urinals, one for the ladies and one for the gentlemen.
The major problem that keeps recurring is that we live at the top of the mountain, so everything has to be raised everywhere, and we have to take into account how the water flows down, so we often have to contend with the current a bit. A concrete floor is certainly nice.
